It has been noted in previous articles (I, IX, X, XI, XII) in this online series that the greenhouse gases (GHG) (i.e. CO₂, CH₄, SO₂ N₂O, SF₆, PCBs, CHCs: HFCs, PFCs and PCBs [which are the natural genetic code altering toxic pollutants to you, me, our children, their children and all land and marine mammalian species] produced as a natural function of burning fossil fuels (i.e. petroleum oil, coal, natural gas, LNG, methane, propane, butane, peat, wood, charcoal) produce a tremendous amount of GHG, with CO₂ being the most destructive of all the GHG (i.e.  8,030,000,000,000 tonnes per year [8.03 X 10¹²).   The GHG are produced as a natural function of the inefficient Carnot Cycle’s incomplete combustion process during such burning, be it in our passenger cars, light trucks, boats, jets, power or process steam manufacturing plants - whatever burns fossil fuels. 

We know now, from the most recent in-situ, laboratory, clinical and supporting electronic stochastic studies that we are in an advanced fast-track global warming climate change period and that these GHG are responsible for destroying the precious coral reefs within our planet’s delicate great ocean bodies of waters.  As previously illustrated in Articles Ten and Eleven, when CO₂ reacts with the alkaline ocean water this results  in adverse destructive consequences to not only those marine species (50% of the world’s specie) for which the coral reefs provide a natural ecological habitat.  Those precious coral reefs provide homeopathic and pharmacological medicines, foods, livelihoods, and further downstream tax revenues at all levels of government which support the infrastructure, administrative and protective work of organized governments of civilized societies throughout the world.

Thanks to recent technological advances, it is now possible to ameliorate the production of any further GHG and the destructive effects of these toxic pollutants in our precious environmental resources.   By increasing our  reliance upon thermonuclear energy and these incorporated safety and reliability advances in the new Gen III and III+ reactor technology to produce clean-green electricity, we can ameliorate the bombardment of GHG upon our natural resources.  The clean air, pH neutral (7.0 clear fresh drinking water which is derived from both underground aquifers and natural bodies of water, as well desirable pH-neutral (7.0) agricultural soil for growing our crops and grains, healthy, vital colorful coral reefs teaming with thousands of biodiverse marine species that all peoples worldwide require to sustain our own existence on our precious Planet Earth, can be recaptured, but we must embrace a paradigm change.

With the advanced thermonuclear power reactor technologies called Advanced Light Water Reactors (ALWRS), it is now possible to rely more heavily on thermonuclear power for clean-green self-sustainable energy, in accordance with the U.S. D.O.E.’s program LEED^TM not only for the generation of commercial electricity but when combined with thermonuclear fusion technology and Gen IV reactor technology, has the capabilities of providing all our requirements for transportation sector fuels that will burn clean-green and may be domestically generated, providing new entrepreneurial start-up businesses and jobs for Americans, here at home.   Clearly we are not fully optimizing our technology and our nation’s intellectual asset, needlessly burning fossil fuels that produce GHG and in particular CO₂, destroying our precious environmental resources as a consequence. 

In  particular, the G-8 Nations could more propitiously optimize these new classes of reactor technology in advanced and evolutionary thermonuclear technology as well as to help the developing nations move ahead with their infrastructure planning. Such a move to become fully reliant upon thermonuclear technologies for all energy and fuel requirements would not only relieve the toxic pollutant load of GHG on Planet Earth every day, but would make our economy stronger from within by domestically producing all our energy and fuel product requirements and providing more jobs here at home in the process.  By maximizing our thermonuclear technologies to optimum advantage, in a very short period of time, America and the other G-7 Nations could pull themselves out of the current economic recession and move ahead to a fully-productive and growing economy with full employment for all their citizens.

While those of us in the R&D community are working valiantly and as quickly as what funding will permit to complete our studies, we now have several new generations of thermonuclear fission technology that could immediately and completely free us from any further fossil fuel burning and production of GHG by advantageously embracing this new thermonuclear technology renaissance.

Generation I technology was designed during WWII and built c. 1952 – 56 in the USA and Great Britain during the Cold War Era.  Gen II technology was designed and built pre-EPA Era that required many new regulatory statutes that Gen I and Gen II technology was never designed to accommodate.  This post design, post construction, post-operation legislation resulted in making thermonuclear-generated electricity more expensive, with delays and cost over-runs to those construction. 

However, the design,  construction and operation  safety and reliability improvements and post-EPA Era statute requirements have been incorporated into new ALWRA advanced generation of thermonuclear fission reactor technologies.  Major strides have been made in Gen III and Gen III+ to not only burn the fuel more efficiently but also to require refueling  50% less often. For example, instead of a power plant being out of operation every 18 – 24 months for refueling procedures, the new Gen III and Gen III+ technologies require refueling at 4.5 – 5 years, saving operation,  maintenance costs and planned outages. 

The ALWRS  have  many inherent passive and active safety and reliability features incorporated  within overlays  of redundancies.  Permitting and licensing has been streamlined as these new advanced technologies  incorporate all U.S.  statutes, legislation and technical specifications as proscribed by and required by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) – Thermonuclear Technology, Nuclear Energy Institute and U.S. Electric Power Regulatory Institute (EPRI).   

                                              Brief Historical Background

Still to this day, the U.S. operating safety record of all U.S. thermonuclear fission reactors is the safest in the world.  But what is not well-known among the General Electorate of the American public is that Generations I and II thermonuclear fission technology that were designed and built immediately after WWII c.1945 suffered the travesty of “AGITPROP”† during the Cold War Era.   “AGITPROP” was a strategy devised by the U.S.S.R. to disrupt and destroy America’s thermonuclear fission industry because the Middle Class in America was growing very strong as a result of inexpensive clean electricity that provided additional power when necessary to support the burgeoning growing economy of the U.S. It was this tremendous explosion of America’s Middle Class, paying taxes on their wealth with expensive electricity provided by thermonuclear fission reactor power baseloading the economy that could afford to support a strong military to fight the ideological war of red communism’s aggression throughout the world, its oppression of peoples, their belief in God and their personal liberties and freedoms. 

To achieve their goals of economic destruction, “AGITPROP” was promulgated and purported by covert  U.S.S.R. agents sent to America’s Homeland by the Kremlin’s N.K.V.D. in an attempt to disrupt, destroy and dismantle America’s strong thermonuclear fission industry.  This took place by demonstrations at various thermonuclear powerplants throughout the U.S.A., as well as covert agents who worked in the free press and used the First Amendment to disparage the safety operating records of the powerplants to prejudice the American public’s faith in the thermonuclear fission technology.  After leading public demonstrations against the thermonuclear power stations, other covert red agents working in the various media would write disparaging popular press magazine and newspaper articles against America’s thermonuclear commercial electricity generating technology, attempting to create a prejudice within the American public that even today has not been set truthfully aright. While the U.S. Government never brought these facts to the attention of the American Electorate, nonetheless, the truth was being told daily as witnesses testified under oath and recorded as the daily work of the U.S. 87^th Congress Subcommittee on U.S. Internal Security Act Legislation.[1],[2]

This is not to say that Gen I and II technology could not benefit by the  new advances in safety and reliability that have  been incorporated into the present day advanced ALWARS. Public safety and confidence were the driving forces in designing  Gen III and III+. These new thermonuclear designs  have achieved both an advanced degree of inherently active and passive safety and reliability standards. 

Gen III+, Gen IV and thermonuclear fusion energy designs have incorporated integrated radwaste management and amelioration in a more proficient manner as integrated functions of this advanced generation of thermonuclear reactor technologies.  These advanced technologies, when combined are capable of many additional functions that can also provide the by-products of clean-green domestically-produced transportation fuels our economy needs to put people back to work and get our economy started once again.

If you really want to stop GHG production during fossil fuel burning that results in consequential global warming and economically destructive climate change, destruction of species worldwide and adverse genetic changes in mammalians of all species, Become a proponent of thermonuclear energy by embracing this new ALWR technology.  By becoming a part of this new paradigm shift, you can create a positive acceptance and become a proponent of these new ALWRs for 87% of our economy as a Member of the General Electorate.  The results will be manifested in the benefits we can all enjoy:  a healthy, clean environment while saving the marine, land and aviation species, leaving a planet that you are proud to leave for your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to inherit.

Your U.S. Elected Representatives and Senators want to know what you want them to achieve during their terms in office, as your representatives.  You can stop GHG production and stop the environmental, specie and economic destruction caused by the production of those GHGs by calling, visiting, e-mailing and/or writing to your U.S. Congressional Representatives directing them to vote for more funding to speed up the R&D process for thermonuclear fusion energy as well as voicing your desire to bring online more thermonuclear fission technology that will bridge the gap of required clean-green, sustainable, reliable, inexpensive, plentiful and domestically-produced thermonuclear energy for all our energy needs, including transportation sector fuels.
